My approach blends direct instruction with constructivist learning: students don't just receive information; they build understanding by doing, questioning, and applying what they learn. This is the same philosophy that shapes my classroom teaching in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP), where I teach Design and emphasize the IB Learner Profile traits — inquiry, critical thinking, reflection, and self-management — in every session.
I work with students on reading comprehension, math foundations, and the study skills and organizational habits that often make the biggest difference in academic confidence. Whether a student needs help catching up, staying on track, or reaching for advanced coursework (including AICE/Cambridge), I tailor my methods to how they actually learn — not a one-size-fits-all script.
My background includes 7 years as a certified English teacher, 22 years as a school principal, and over 60 graduate credits toward a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction from SUNY Albany. That combination of classroom experience, academic leadership, and advanced study in how students actually learn shapes everything I do as a tutor. My goal is simple: help your child build real skills and real confidence — not just get through the next test.
