Hello! I'm Nick. I've been tutoring here since 2020 and find that my passion lies with helping people who speak English as a second language and students who have difficulty with the Spanish language. (However, this is not an exhaustive list by any means.) I graduated cum laude from Broward College in 2018 with a BAS in Management & Supervision and recently earned my master's degree in occupational therapy in 2023. I had some great professors and learned a great deal about how to reach people individually- to meet them where they are.
In my free time outside of practicing as an OT, I read many books on philosophy and metaphysics and I am finding this helpful when explaining ideas and concepts to people. I am able to find out what piques the interest of individuals and then use appropriate analogies and experiences to make whatever material it is I am discussing more digestible and understandable. I have always had a deep respect for teachers and truly enjoy helping people learn and understand.

I took 4 years of Spanish in high school, 2 in college, and lived with a family from Argentina for 3 years in Michigan. I have always been passionate about the Spanish language and with cultures of South America and Central America. I understand the need to sort of think in a different language and not simply attempt to directly translate. I can understand conceptions behind both English and Spanish and how they differ. I am proficient with written and conversational Spanish.

I enjoy helping students of all ages and recently worked as a tutor turned teacher for a charter school where I taught science to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders before starting my career as an occupational therapist. I love helping people learn in whatever subject they are interested and find the 1 on 1 connections I've made through Wyzant valuable to me personally as I continue my own growth and develop skills to be of maximum service to whomever I can.

English

English

Grateful for having strict English teachers in high school, I now realize the importance of speaking and writing well. I have a keen eye for grammar and I thoroughly enjoy helping students of all ages improve their English skills. My undergrad degree was highly focused on concise business writing.
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

I have a strong mastery of the English language. But more importantly, by studying Spanish and by independently studying multiple philosophies and religions I have learned how to effectively express ideas going from one culture to another. Language is not simply translation. It takes cognitive empathy to accurately convey ideas and concepts.
Grammar

Grammar

I had strict English teachers in high school (for whom I am grateful) and I am a college graduate. Acquiring my B.A.S. in Management involved heavy focus in concise business writing. (APA style, impeccable grammar, etc). And on a personal note, I genuinely enjoy helping others polish their grammar.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I had outstanding English teachers in high school. In my undergrad degree journey I had to write in a concise business style (APA format). I have a keen eye for grammar.

Dives right into it!

Nick is perfectly willing to jump straight into forming sentences that match your work conditions or situations in general if that’s what you want. But if you want to form more of an understanding of how the language works before you start forming sentences, Nick is great for that as well. Either way, Nick is going give loads of information that, in my case, have left me excited for the future. He also has a great personality.
