Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Jessica and I have been teaching people, in some form or another, since I was a teenager. Based on this fact, I even received a scholarship from the local branch of the National Retired Educators Association and as able to achieve my degree. Hi! Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Jessica and I have been teaching people, in some form or another, since I was a teenager. Based on this fact, I even received a scholarship from the local branch of the National Retired Educators Association and as able to achieve my degree. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a minor in American Sign Language. My student teaching was in a third grade Inclusive classroom with a wide range of abilities and technologies. I have since worked in all classrooms, from preK through high school, in mainstream ed through special needs (physically, mentally, emotionally, advanced needs).

Since then I have worked as a substitute teacher for two different counties and voluntarily tutored several friend's children. I have a very open mind and love to try new styles and methods to facilitate that 'aha!' moment when a child understands a new concept. My interests range from reading to languages (Spanish/French/ASL/teaching myself Italian) and I'm always willing to learn something new every day. Life's too short to just learn one thing and never branch out.

I have worked with several students and adults who have ADD/ADHD, in various home and educational settings. In my student teaching, I taught ADD/ADHD students in my Inclusion classroom and conferred with ESE Department on a regular basis. I have also taught and cared for an array of adults with ADD/ADHD. I obtained my degree in Elementary Education, grades K-6th at Flagler College. I have since taught in all classrooms from K-6th as well as all subjects.

During my school days, I excelled in Mathematics; so much so that I scored all A's during middle school math classes. I also scored such a high grade on the final that I surpassed the school's expectations. I was recommended straight into Algebra 1 for freshman year of high school. Teachers there tried to send me to Pre-Algebra but my scores were too high. I aced Algebra 1 with flying colors.

I have taught many children how to read, as well as skills to help with decoding, vocabulary acquisition and comprehension. I currently have students that struggle with reading who have made vast improvements, as well as students with reading disabilities.

I have tutored several students in Spelling. We have covered the sounds of letters, letter blends, and common patterns in words. We also focus on pronunciation as we reiterate vowel sounds and flow.
