Students need a solid foundation in basic reading skills, like phonemic awareness, to build upon and become better readers. During my tutoring sessions, I will be using the Barton System, which is an Orton-Gillingham influenced system, that provides an explicit and systematic approach to teaching phonics.
I have been teaching for 14 years. I have taught in many different settings, including self-contained, resource, and general education. I have taught students from grades K-8 throughout my career. Currently, I am extending my knowledge and love of reading by offering remediation services in a one-on-one setting for people with Dyslexia or people that suspect Dyslexia.
