I have successfully completed my Masters decree at George Washington University (GWU) with a focus on students with Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities (EBD). Each child has the ability to learn but it is the responsibility of skilled exceptional teachers to create a milieu that fosters growth and development for each student.
I have taught for over four years in the general education setting and from those experiences my love for teaching grew and lead to my enrollment in the GWU EBD program. While interning and later working for Episcopal Center for Children, I was given the opportunity to work with students with varying exceptionalities and academic levels. From this experience I further developed my behavior and instructional techniques as well as my ability to assess needs and implement strategies. I have also had the opportunity to work with various curriculums and has explored the requirements and implementations of the Common Core State Standards. I realize that each learner is unique, but with the proper modification and/or accommodations learning is possible and attainable.
As a teacher and also a mom, I am always seeking new ways to encourage a love for learning.
