Hi! I have been teaching and tutoring English Language Arts for over ten years, helping K-12 students increase their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

To increase students' reading comprehension, we will focus on both informative nonfiction and narrative fiction text. I will encourage students to go back into the text to make sure they are checking their answer providing text evidence to support their answer. This will, in turn, become an effective habit that they can use on classwork assignments, homework, and assessments.

Students either love writing or they really don't like writing! I have helped students gain confidence in their writing by reviewing the guidelines and adding FUN into the writing process and elements of writing. We outline exactly what is needed in every writing assignment and then I help them formulate a plan to carry out their writing, research, narrative, or any other assignment they have. I have helped students revise and edit their college admissions essays as well as essays for admission into various organizations that required an example of their writing.

I have helped students learn how to pay close attention to detail when it comes to their English skills, especially in the areas of Speaking and Listening. I have helped students plan presentations so that they are presenting with clarity, relevancy, and credibility. Furthermore, I will help them take notes on presentations so that they can improve on their active listening skills and distinguish what is important in a speech.

At the start of the session, I will always take the time to listen to my students and assess exactly what they need. I pay close attention to detail to make sure my students are reaching their goal for the session. Tutoring is very rewarding because I can give 100% personalized attention to the students with whom I work. In addition, my tutoring students have been successful because in every session, we can dig into the material and clarify any area where the student wants to improve.
