I’m an SI for Calculus 1 at Daytona State College

I am currently a Supplemental Instruction leader for Calculus I at Daytona State College, where I support students in understanding core calculus concepts such as limits, derivatives, and basic integrals. I am pursuing a STEM pathway with a strong focus on engineering, and I consistently maintain a high academic standing in my math and science courses. Through my role as an SI leader, I regularly work with college-level students in both small group and one-on-one settings, helping them not only solve problems, but understand the underlying concepts so they can apply them independently on exams and in future courses.

My tutoring style is concept-driven and student-centered. I begin by identifying where the student’s understanding breaks down, then rebuild the topic step-by-step using clear explanations, visual reasoning, and guided practice. I place a strong emphasis on showing students how to think through problems logically instead of memorizing formulas. I also help students develop effective study habits, problem-solving strategies, and confidence in approaching math, which is often just as important as learning the material itself.

I have experience working with students of different academic backgrounds and comfort levels with math, from those who feel anxious or behind to those who are aiming for high grades. My goal as a tutor is not only to help students improve their performance in a specific course, but to help them build a strong foundation that will support them in future math and science classes. I am patient, approachable, and committed to helping each student reach their full potential.
