I have over 14 years of experience teaching Portuguese to corporate students as well as individuals. Most of my students work with Brazilian companies, therefore I am very familiar and well attuned to their language needs. The classes are fun, with conversational exercises to give the students the practice they need to communicate in Portuguese with their clients. I have over 14 years of experience teaching Portuguese to corporate students as well as individuals. Most of my students work with Brazilian companies, therefore I am very familiar and well attuned to their language needs. The classes are fun, with conversational exercises to give the students the practice they need to communicate in Portuguese with their clients. Besides Portuguese I also teach conversational English and Spanish. My English students are in the vast majority Brazilians that are improving their English skills. Many have some knowledge of English but feel they can't converse and therefore I focus my classes on conversation.
I graduated in Veterinary School in Brazil. I have been working with languages for many years and I also worked as a Portuguese - English Interpreter/Translator in the past. I have lived in the USA for over 20 years and have worked as a translator/interpreter in the English - Portuguese combination for many years before I began teaching. I have been teaching languages for over 10 years and have had success with a more conversational focused method. I have tutored ESL online and in person.

After 7 years as a translator - interpreter I decided to start teaching languages and enjoyed it so much that since then I have been teaching languages full time. The fact that I am able to go back and forth in two languages as an interpreter helped me connect with my first students and discover a passion for teaching. I have lived in the USA for 20 years and the cultural knowledge also brings a bonus to the classes and make it more dynamic. You can rest assured that I understand the different ways an English learner tries to create connections between languages. Therefore I feel I am qualified to teach ESL.

I also work with writing and reading according to my students needs. I have over 12 years of experience teaching students with different reasons to learn a language. Some want to travel, some need Portuguese for work and some just enjoy learning a language. I create material guided to my students needs and goals. An instructor who will make you feel good about speaking Portuguese!

I’ve been taking classes with Lied for some time now and I think she’s a great instructor! She takes a communicative approach and can always be counted on to get me talking during our lessons. It’s great because speaking in impromptu situations is something that I struggle with but Lied makes me feel at ease. Additionally, she hones in on vocabulary and grammatical structures that I need to practice and builds these into our lessons. She’s a fun, friendly, and approachable teacher who is flexible with her scheduling and adaptable depending on what her students need.

Fun and engaging

Lied was very helpful with practicing my conversational Portuguese and meeting me where I was at in my skills. It was a fun time doing tutoring sessions, as she chose engaging topics to talk about during our practice. She was not judgmental, but was patient and sweet.
