I can help you with Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Statistics and SAT preparation. In addition to assisting with difficult concepts, I can help you become a better student in any class by showing you study and test preparation methods that will improve your grades. These methods have worked for me and students I've tutored have improved from D and C grades to A's and B's.
I am a professional tutor in a college Math Lab and students have told me that I am good at explaining things.
I've often said that there are people to whom the study of mathematics comes easily. We call those people geniuses. The rest of us have to work at it. If you are willing to work, I can help you become an "A" student. I can help you with Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, … Read more
I am happy to have more than one SAT Math or ACT Math student (up to four) for an extra $10 per student per hour.
Brian was a great experience all the way around. He called ahead of time so he could know what books and lessons she was studying. He was patient, thorough, made good reason of her math, showed her steps that the online site and books skipped...my daughter said it all made sense after he showed her and she was smiling! We will continue to use Brian.
Brian comes accross as very dedicated. He seems to know what the individual student needs (patience, toughness, straight forward). It doesn't appear to be just a business to him, he is genuine.
Brian is excellent. Working with Brian has made such a difference in my daughter's understanding of algebra. He is a GEM!!
Brian has been a great tutor. He always brings additional study guides for me to use as references. Prompt to reply to emails and makes himself available for additional help.
Brian was such a big help to me! He was knowledgable, patient, reliable, and quick to respond to e-mails. Highly recommended!
He prepares his classes, stimulates the students, he is a great tutor with awesome math skills and tricks. He is tutoring my nephew and niece for the SAT and he is doing a terrific job!
Brian started as easy to contact and very quick to respond to my e-mails. He showed up exactly on time and after a brief introduction he sat down with my daughter. Instead of just jumping into the meat of the Algebra issues, he sat for a good ten minutes getting to know her and developing positive communication. Brian then proceeded to work with her and answer all of her questions. On top of finding the solutions to the many questions that perplexed her, he gave her many helpful tips as to how to handle the upcoming years math class in a more productive manner.
Overall, my daughter was comfortable with him immediately and I would say that he exceeded my expectations.
Brian is a patient teacher, he is thorough, resourceful and explains well. He is punctual, easy to contact and responsive to messages. I recommend him as an algebra tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Algebra 1 is the critical course for building skills that you will need for everything that follows, including Geometry. When I tutor Algebra 1 students, I focus on how to study math and how to prepare for math tests.
Algebra 2 is difficult for many students because this is the course that accelerates the pace in math. Lots of new concepts are thrown at a student and they must all be mastered without the extended time and practice that a student has seen on concepts in lower level courses. This is the course in which a student must learn how to teach himself math, rather than depending on an instructor.
Calculus, in itself, is relatively simple. What makes a calculus course tough is that the student must be able to pull together a wide range of math knowledge, particularly precalculus and trigonometry, and apply it in this new context. There are ways to make this easier and I can show them to you.
Precalc is Algebra 2 on steroids. Lots of topics and concepts, lots of methods, lots of tough problem solving. Any weakness that a student has in Algebra will be exposed here and must be addressed to succeed in this course. Success with this course will make Calculus a lot easier.
I particularly tutor students who are taking STA 2023. I have many worked out examples and worked out exam reviews.
