Hey, I'm Victor! I am a junior Writing and Rhetoric major at the University of Central Florida minoring in Chemistry. In the future, I hope to become a cardiologist and public health writer, teaching and educating people on the complex things in medicine in a way that is easily understood. In my free time, I love to write, play video games, and drive around.
I have been tutoring the English portion of the SAT for around one to nearly two years in total, overseeing score improvements from 50 to 200+ points. Most of my tutoring is one-on-one, as I prefer working with students directly rather than as a group. I find that working with students one-on-one usually leads to higher score gains, as students are more comfortable asking questions and working through things that are challenging to them. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience authoring my own test items, having created over 1,000 questions on just the English portion of the SAT. This means that I can still help you tackle new questions, even if you have already gone through all of College Board's official items.
Beyond tutoring for the SAT, I have also helped out students with editing and improving their writing -- from college admissions essays to class papers -- focusing on grammar and mechanics, logic and reasoning, and structure. I have also worked on improving students' reading comprehension by teaching close-reading and active-reading strategies that fundamentally change how they approach texts. I have tutored primarily middle and high schoolers, with the exception of some university and college-level students. I have been doing so for around 2 years as well.
When tutoring students, I make sure to adapt to their way of learning, as I know that not all students learn the same way. I am also very flexible, so if you ever need to re-schedule, cancel, or make an in-person session online, I can accommodate when reasonable! You can also always reach out to me directly before or after sessions if need be; I will be glad to help!
