My name is Carissa, and I currently teach at Baldwin

must say that this statement changed my life. In addition to my Pre-K and Kindergarten
teacher both of my parents are teachers as well. My mom opened a school in Queens,
NY that is still running to this day. Unfortunately, I lost her a few years ago to Cancer
but she left such an impact on my life and her love for students was passed down to
me! Teaching is not only a passion for me but also a calling. I have had many
accomplishments in this time that I have been honored to teach. In my early years of
teaching, I received Teacher of the Year! This was such an honor not only for me but
my family, friends, and students as well. I completed my masters in December
2016 with a degree in Curriculum Planning as well as Educational Leadership. Creating
the curriculum for the tutoring session has been a joy because I have been able to put
in information that I do believe the public school is missing. I do believe every person can
learn, and it is up to the teacher to take the time and energy to help each and every
one. In all my years of teaching, I am proud to say that I have an excellent relationship
with my students’ parents. They are truly my teammates, and we work together to get
these future leaders ready for the next grade. I also am a firm believer that students
need to be exposed to real life situations and how to go about solving them. I am here for you and here to support you in
any way! I honestly look forward to working with our
students and cannot wait to see these bright futures that we have ahead of us. Thank
