Warm greetings! I would love to partner with your child on their path to success. Looking for a patient, nurturing teacher to uplift your child and help them be successful? I have a real passion for teaching and I love to celebrate successes. It's thrilling to see that special moment when a child's eyes light up and they say "I get this!" Your child will be encouraged and supported every step of the way. My passion is to instill a love of math and reading in my students. I have a goofy sense of humor and I love to make learning fun.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and have some work towards a Master's Degree in Math Education. I taught elementary school grades 2 through 5 all subjects for 15 years, specializing in integrating reading and math throughout the entire curriculum. I taught middle school math grades 6 and 7, as well as Pre Algebra, specializing in relating math to real world experiences, building math confidence and raising test scores. I was a Title 1 reading teacher for two years, teaching intensive reading to small groups of elementary students working with sight words, building their fluency and comprehension. I write children's books and hope to be published soon. I have two years of tutoring experience, working with middle school and high school math students, building their math skills and preparing them for exams.

I bring 20 years of classroom teaching experience to my tutoring approach, personalizing the tutoring lesson plans to fit each child's individual needs. I explicitly teach the material, constantly checking for understanding along the way to determine the pace and depth of the lesson, making adjustments as needed. Dialogue between tutor and student is essential and I always encourage students to ask questions.

I view tutoring as a partnership and welcome any input or suggestions that you or your child may have. Feel free to contact me any time for online tutoring. I have a quick response time and look forward to hearing from you. Let's begin this journey tog

great lesson - 1st grade level

Linda always works on creating lessons catered to my son’s school lessons. This week they worked in breaking down two digit numbers for addition. They also worked on words with R controlled vowels “bossy Rs” :)

Excellent tutor

Linda has been tutoring my 6th grade daughters twice a week for nearly 3 months. She's an excellent tutor. She explains things in a way that my daughters are able to understand and she is patient with them when the material may not click right away! My girls really enjoy their lessons with Linda.

Fun and interactive tutor

My daughter is in Algebra Honors. She typically struggles in math but tested into an Algebra Honors class for 7th grade. I immediately felt that this would be a struggle for her but she was up for the challenge. I wanted to make sure she had confidence taking this class so that’s when I decided to find a tutor and chose Linda to work with my daughter. My daughter is typically very shy but Linda’s approach of teaching her is fun and interactive. Since being tutored by Linda my daughter’s confidence has gone up in math and currently has an A in the class. We feel blessed having Linda as our tutor and take comfort knowing she has lots of experience because she has been a math teacher in the school system for years.

Linda was patient and good humored

Linda did an excellent job. My child enjoyed her session with her very much. She was very kind and patient. This makes you leave 160 characters in a review and that is rather annoying but Linda was excellent and get's an A+.

Works especially well with parent/student guidance as to fundamentals and weak points

Linda is not just another online tutor. She is genuinely interested in the student's progress and very knowledgable about the deficiencies of classroom teaching. We have especially appreciated her flexibility to work on more challenging areas of honors level pre-Algebra (G7) when working with younger students. She is willing to help them learn anything they are capable of while still understanding the need for scaffolding in basics to reach this level. She has also been flexible on scheduling which is greatly appreciated.

John is my third child to be tutored by Linda and we couldn’t be happier. She is very patient and has a way of simplifying complicated concepts.
