I specialize in elementary reading and writing, ESL/EAL for children and adults, and IB PYP support for families in international or IB programs. I also work with adult professionals on accent reduction and Business English for clearer, more confident communication. I am experienced supporting students with ADHD and teaching study skills and executive functioning strategies to help learners build independence and confidence.

I'm a former international school principal and curriculum leader with nearly twenty years of experience across eight countries, including schools in the USA, Czech Republic, China, Brazil, Germany, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Bangladesh. I hold a B.A. in English, an M.Ed. in TESOL, and a CELTA certification, and have spent my career in IB World Schools leading literacy programs, coaching teachers, and supporting multilingual learners in private, one-on-one settings.

I work diagnostically, meaning I begin every new student relationship by understanding exactly where my student is and what they need, not by running through a generic workbook. Sessions are purposeful, tailored, and grounded in twenty years of professional expertise.

I offer in-person tutoring throughout the Clearwater and Tampa area, traveling to your home or a convenient local location, as well as online sessions through the Wyzant platform.

Accent Reduction

Accent Reduction

I hold a CELTA certification and an M.Ed. in TESOL, and have spent twenty years working with multilingual learners across eight countries. Earlier in my career, I taught Business English to adult professionals, with a specific focus on American English pronunciation and presentation skills. I am a native speaker of American English with a neutral mid-Atlantic accent, which is particularly helpful for professionals seeking to reduce accent in business or academic settings. I focus on specific areas including vowel and consonant sounds, consonant enunciation, word stress, sentence rhythm, and intonation patterns, using targeted listening and repetition exercises alongside real-world speaking practice.
ADHD

ADHD

Over the course of nearly twenty years teaching and leading in international elementary schools, I have worked directly with students diagnosed with ADHD, designing and advocating for individualized support plans that address focus, organization, and task completion. I use structured strategies including visual schedules, chunked tasks, checklists, movement breaks, and time-blocking to help students build routines and independence. I have chaired Student Support Services teams to coordinate behavioral and academic interventions for students with attention challenges. My experience includes close partnership with families and teachers to ensure strategies are reinforced consistently.
Common Core

Common Core

My M.Ed. in TESOL and decade of curriculum coordination in U.S.-aligned international schools gave me deep familiarity with Common Core standards across literacy and language arts. I have designed and reviewed units aligned to Common Core expectations, supported teachers in understanding progression across grade levels, and used Common Core-aligned assessments to track student growth. I am experienced helping students and families understand what grade-level expectations look like in practice.
Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

I hold an M.Ed. in TESOL and have spent nearly twenty years teaching and leading in elementary schools across eight countries, including roles as Principal, Assistant Principal, and Curriculum Coordinator. I have direct classroom teaching experience across K-6 grade levels in literacy, language arts, and EAL, and I specialize in making content accessible for diverse learners. I bring a warm, structured approach to one-on-one sessions that helps students build confidence and genuine understanding.
English

English

I also wanted to add a few things about my background that I think are particularly relevant for your son. In addition to my degrees, I hold a CELTA certification, an internationally recognized English language teaching credential, and I have completed advanced literacy training at Columbia University Teachers College in Writers’ Workshop, Readers’ Workshop, reading comprehension strategies, and data-driven instruction. My experience with IB PYP curriculum, where literacy skills are taught in an integrated, transdisciplinary context, also aligns closely with the philosophy behind Integrated Language Arts. I understand how reading, writing, vocabulary, and comprehension work together as interconnected skills rather than isolated subjects, and I know how to help students make those connections explicitly. This means I can support your son not just with individual skills in isolation, but with how they work together to strengthen his overall performance in advanced ILA, which is exactly what he needs.

Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I trained in evidence-based writing instruction at Columbia University Teachers College, with coursework focused on the writing process, digital writing, and nonfiction research writing across K-8 grade levels. In my leadership roles I supported teachers in delivering structured writing instruction and coached students through drafting, revision, and editing. I help students develop their own voice while building the organizational skills needed to write clearly and persuasively.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

Through years of leading student support teams in elementary schools, I have developed practical expertise in helping students who struggle with staying organized, getting started on tasks, and managing their time. I teach concrete strategies including planner and checklist systems, breaking assignments into smaller steps, setting timers to create focus intervals, and building consistent after-school routines that make homework feel manageable. Each student's plan is tailored to their specific challenges, whether that is knowing where to begin, keeping track of materials, or following through on multi-step assignments. I work closely with parents to ensure strategies are reinforced at home, not just during our sessions together.
Phonics

Phonics

I have experience working with early learners and am comfortable teaching foundational phonics skills including letter recognition, letter-sound correspondence, blending, segmenting, and sight words. I use engaging, age-appropriate tools and activities to keep young learners motivated and make learning fun. I tailor my approach to each child’s individual pace and learning style to build a strong reading foundation.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I hold a Master of Education in TESOL and a Bachelor of Arts in English, giving me a strong foundation in language, grammar, and writing mechanics. With nearly twenty years of experience in international education, I have extensive experience reviewing and giving feedback on student writing across multiple age groups and contexts. As a former EAL teacher and curriculum coordinator, I have supported young writers in developing clarity, structure, and voice in their writing. I am highly comfortable using digital tools including Microsoft Word and Google Docs to provide detailed, constructive written feedback. Working with a 10-year-old fiction writer is something I would approach with both rigor and encouragement — helping the child grow as a writer while keeping their enthusiasm and confidence intact.

Patient and a True Pro

Elizabeth has been working with our 9th grade son to help him keep track of his assignments and work on organizational and study skills. He’s a super smart kid with inattentive ADHD who prefers his independence. Elizabeth has worked through his reluctance to accept her help with kindness, patience, and professionalism. She’s a true pro who knows what she’s doing and we are so grateful to have her!
