As a previous State of Tennessee Parole Officer of 21 years with a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice, I have participated in many aspects of the criminal justice field. I am now retired and would love to share my knowledge with others. This is a wonderful field with broad placements. This also allowed me to gain experience as a Pretrial Officer with the Court System. As a Parole Officer, I worked closely with all law enforcement agencies, including the local City and County law enforcement departments, the Courts, Federal agencies such as the U.S. Marshals Office and ATF. This also involved supervising over 100 high risk, high needs parole offenders, communicating with their families, and other helping agencies and resources.
I was a member of and participated in the Tennessee Gang Association and the Tennessee Correctional Association. I led a multi-disciplinary team including the Knoxville Public Safety Collaborative and the Knoxville Police Department in supervising high risk/needs adult offenders. I taught classes at the local university regarding parole. I also developed, coordinated, and participated in and annual Boot Camp program in conjunction with the Knoxville Police Department for high-risk inner-city children.
