Elementary (K-6th)

Elementary (K-6th)

From 2007 to today, I’ve built a 17‑year career as a passionate, multi‑dimensional educator focused on tutoring and educational mentorship. My approach is deeply student‑centered: I design learning experiences that position each student as an active co‑creator of their growth, not just a passive recipient of information. This aligns with research on student‑centered pedagogy, which emphasizes learner responsibility, relevance to students’ lives, and active engagement in choosing how and what to learn, all of which strengthen motivation and ownership. Over nearly two decades, I’ve channeled that philosophy into tutoring relationships that adapt to diverse learning styles, backgrounds, and goals, helping each individual navigate challenges with increased confidence and measurable progress. Equally central to my work is a culturally grounded framework that validates and leverages students’ identities, histories, and lived experiences as foundational strengths in learning. This perspective mirrors the principles of culturally responsive teaching, which recognize culture as a powerful force shaping how people make meaning and succeed academically. National Equity Project In practice, that means honoring students’ voices, customizing instruction so it resonates with their world, and creating supportive, affirming spaces where learners feel seen and heard. Through this lens, my mission—to empower individuals through education—becomes tangible: I guide learners not only to meet academic targets but to cultivate agency, critical thinking, and lifelong capacity to thrive in and beyond the classroom.

Homeschool

Homeschool

My work is results‑driven, The same practical, evidence‑aware mindset guided the two years I homeschooled my daughter, where I observed firsthand how home‑based education can operate much like public or private school in structure and rigor, while offering distinct advantages and tradeoffs. In my experience, homeschool can deliver comparable day‑to‑day learning rhythms and academic seriousness, yet with added flexibility to tailor pacing, resources, and cultural relevance—without sacrificing accountability or results. Research summaries of homeschooling likewise note strong academic and social‑emotional outcomes in many studies, underscoring that home education can be a serious, high‑achieving option when thoughtfully implemented. The pros I saw include closer alignment to the student’s context and values, adaptation to their 1-on-1 needs, and a learning environment that can stay safe, affirming, and community‑connected. The main cons or challenges involve the need for deliberate outreach to broader social or extracurricular networks to mirror the fuller social time; ecosystem students often experience in traditional schools.
