I'm Mikayla! After being homeschooled my whole life, I graduated high school early with a 4.0 GPA and studied at Liberty University for one year, finishing with a 4.0. Additionally, I have also dedicated almost a decade to studying writing. I have conducted independent research, written many essays on the topic, and made it my goal to know the discipline inside and out. Similarly, I have a great passion for the English language. In my view, there are two things vital to a good education: a firm grasp of the written word and a keen work ethic. I seek to impart both to my students.

I have over two years of experience teaching students of all ages — many of whom have been with me a year or more. My teaching method involves creating a fun atmosphere where students feel supported and excited to learn! Through concentrated instruction, targeted practice, and various written assignments, I help them hone their skills and build a lasting foundation in language arts. I'm also an expert in creative writing, having written several novels and studied storytelling extensively. For clients seeking help in this area, I give them a concrete understanding of the elements of a story and help them realize their visions through collaborative brainstorming, thoughtful feedback, and constructive critique. Using my background in English, I also work as an editor, giving clients detailed feedback on works of varying length, subject, and style. Beyond proofreading, I provide clients with content suggestions, restructuring tips, and general guidance. My goal is to empower them to feel more confident in their skills. Finally, I am available to support students struggling with various subjects or standardized tests, helping them identify their weak points and reach their goals.

In the other areas of writing, I am thoroughly prepared to teach both academic and technical writing in a way that is understandable and memorable. Being able to complete any and all writing endeavors with confidence has been invaluable to me, and I look forward to helping my clients improve their craft. I have worked with students of all ages, helping them gain confidence and expand their skills. Through teaching outlining techniques, introducing students to a wide range of assignments, and giving them feedback on their writing, I am able to give them writing experience, encourage them, and help them prepare for higher level writing classes and assignments. In addition, I offer outside of class editing services. As an experienced editor, I can review college application essays, various academic writings, creative writing (including novels and short stories), select other writings, and more and leave detailed revision suggestions and comments.
