Hi, I’m Carl. I have over 15 years of experience teaching college-level mathematics and hold a graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. I have taught in college classrooms, worked one-on-one with students, and provided small-group support to help learners build confidence and succeed in math.
In addition to course instruction, I have experience preparing students for standardized exams such as the GRE, SAT, ACT, and Praxis. I enjoy helping adult learners and college students strengthen their foundational skills, refresh concepts after time away from math, and develop effective problem-solving strategies.
My teaching philosophy focuses on developing mathematical intuition—the ability to recognize patterns and understand the “why” behind the methods. I use clear explanations, real-world examples, and hands-on problem solving to help students truly understand the material. When helpful, I also incorporate digital tools and basic coding to show how mathematics applies beyond the classroom.
I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson.
