Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy:

For sessions booked at least two days in advance, a 24-hour notice of cancellation/rescheduling is required. For all other booked sessions, a minimum of a 2-hour notice is required. Late cancellations/reschedules for any reason are billed for the amount of the booked session.

I did very well on the ACT Math portion and this is a regular subject of which I tutor throughout the year.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra is the "bread & butter" of all high school math. In order for a student to be successful in future math courses, he or she needs to be strong in algebra. I excelled in algebra when I was a student. I can certainly help others grasp the subject and gain the knowledge of the fundamental topics within the subject.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is an extension of Algebra 1, and sometimes I find myself covering the topics of Algebra 1 or Pre-Algebra with some students--this is okay, but more importantly, it is necessary!
ASVAB

ASVAB

I know how to help young adults understand all of the mathematical concepts covered in the ASVAB and increase their score. There are techniques for studying on one's own that can be utilized in addition to tutoring. I have successfully helped students over the years increase their scores to enter whatever particular field or job they were seeking.
Calculus

Calculus

I have a high aptitude for calculus and explaining the concepts to students. I have taught AP Calculus at the high school level. It is my favorite subject to teach and tutor. Related math courses for which I have passed with a 3.0 or higher include: * Precalculus/Trigonometry * Calc with Analytic Geometry I * Calc with Analytic Geometry II * Calc with Analytic Geometry III * Differential Equations

I regularly access the IXL website for the Common Core standards. IXL breaks down the standards for each grade level with examples. I have tutored Common Core math for several years.

GED

I have tutored many students for the math portion of the GED. I consistently see the elements and concepts covered in the GED in other math subjects that I tutor as well.
Geometry

I currently teach geometry at Booker High School in Sarasota. I did well in geometry as a student. I also took three calculus courses with analytic geometry as a college student.

I am fluent in all algebraic topics up to Algebra II Honors.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I passed Precalculus with an A in both high school and in college. I also taught this subject as a math teacher in public high school. I have logged hundreds of hours of teaching and tutoring precalculus topics.
SAT Math

SAT Math

The SAT is a BIG deal. And I can clearly express and have you or your child understand the material and mathematical concepts behind the problems. It is important that your son or daughter know how to set up problems with the ability to express word problems into expressions and equations--and I can do this! I want your son or daughter to get the best score possible so they can have better potential to get into the school they want a little more easily.

I have tutored statistics for several clients in the past couple years. I understand how and what tools make this subject less time consuming and that provide accurate and detailed information for all the different tests covered throughout the course. Statistics is all about variation for different types of data being analyzed.
Study Skills

Study Skills

I currently work with two students who both have ADHD. I myself have ADHD and therefore understand the personal importance of study skills. I teach my students that it is equally important to relax and reward yourself with some free time after doing some homework or working on a big assignment. Organization is key, and even more specifically SETTING DEADLINES. If a student is not exactly sure when something is due, he or she will feel less strongly about where they exactly stand. And even more importantly, knowing deadlines and creating your own daily schedule makes life that much easier. The two students that I currently work with are a sophomore in high school and a repeat second grader. Both require study skill habits in their own unique way, and I manage to cater to their specific needs quite well. I am able to set deadlines for my students and then after a while, they can really see how straightforward and simple organization of one's time can be. Working with the TV off and avoiding any unnecessary distractions is just as important when talking about study skills. The environment one works in is critical to one's success. Pythagorean didn't have MTV or an iPhone to distract him from developing his famous right triangle theorem!
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Trigonometry makes up the significant portion of "pre-calculus" courses. I have been able to make trigonometry much easier to understand and comprehend for many students over the years. Some teachers or professors do not focus on certain fundamentals of trigonometry, thus making it more difficult to fully grasp the material and even more importantly, how to efficiently obtain solutions to problems. I make sure to go over these fundamentals each and every time I sit down with a student for the first time, especially because these fundamentals are referred to over and over again throughout the course.

Understanding SAT Advanced Math

My son had his first session with Brandon this week and it was very productive. He was able to work with my son on reviewing some of the advanced math fundamentals from the SAT. Began working w/ him on some of his weakness and provided practice problems to work thru for the next session. Looking forward to more sessions to help my son reach his SAT goals.

Brandon find a way to make math makes sense to my child who has had many gaps due to the pandemic I especially like his notes that explained to me the exact skills that were worked on so that we have a running log of what topics have been covered and we can go back and watch the recordings

Brandon has the expertise to know what exactly to work on to strengthen gaps to help my kid learn.
