University Graduate Helping Students Master Natural Sciences

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest Resources and Conservation from the University of Florida, where I developed a strong foundation in biology, ecology, and environmental science. My coursework covered ecosystem dynamics, conservation, soils, wildlife, and environmental processes, allowing me to connect scientific concepts to real-world examples.

While I have not worked as a formal classroom teacher or tutor, I have extensive experience explaining scientific concepts through fieldwork, research, and outdoor education. As a participant in tree health and mortality surveys in Harvard Forest, I collected ecological data, analyzed long-term trends in forest composition, created reports with graphs and analysis, and presented my findings to other students. This experience strengthened my ability to interpret scientific information and communicate complex concepts clearly.

Additionally, as a member of a wilderness trail crew in Montana, I led groups of high school students on week-long backpacking projects. I taught students how to safely use hand tools while sharing my knowledge of ecology, plant identification, and botany. Seeing students develop curiosity and appreciation for the natural world was one of the most rewarding parts of this experience. These experiences have helped me develop patience, communication skills, and the ability to make complex scientific ideas approachable and engaging.

My tutoring approach focuses on helping students understand the “why” behind scientific concepts rather than relying on memorization. I aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, tackling challenging concepts, and building confidence through personalized approaches that fit their learning goals.
