I have a strong educational background and several years of classroom teaching experience that have prepared me to tutor students in reading, writing, English language arts, elementary math, history, religion, and general academic support. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Saint Vincent College and a Master’s degree in Education from Santa Clara University, where I graduated summa cum laude. My education helped me develop strong communication, writing, lesson-planning, and instructional skills, all of which I use to help students understand material clearly and build confidence.
I have taught in Catholic school classroom settings for approximately six years, working with elementary and middle school students. My experience includes teaching third grade as a homeroom teacher, where I taught multiple subjects, as well as teaching fifth grade, a combined fifth and sixth grade class, and middle school English language arts and history. I have worked with students of different ages, ability levels, learning styles, and confidence levels, which has helped me learn how to adjust my instruction based on the needs of each student.
My teaching approach is patient, structured, and encouraging. I focus on breaking difficult concepts into smaller steps, modeling examples, giving guided practice, and checking for understanding before moving forward. I also believe students learn best when they feel supported and respected, so I try to build trust while holding them to clear expectations. As a tutor, I would bring the same care, organization, and communication skills that I used in the classroom to help students strengthen their skills and become more independent learners.
