I'm John. I graduated from Jacksonville State University in Alabama with a BS in Education Degree in English with additional graduate studies completed at Yale University and Oxford University in England.

I recently retired after 40 years teaching grades 6-12 in both public and private schools. I love exploring all things English including literature, grammar, composition, research and test prep. I was named one of Georgia's Top 100 Teachers twice, a STAR Teacher twice, nominated as Disney's National Teacher of the Year, been a presenter at several national conventions and had my curriculum and reviews published nationally.

As a private tutor over the past 25 years, I enjoy using discussion and debate as a way for students to discover the learning and providing an environment where students feel confident enough to make mistakes without judgment as well as succeed. I've worked with students privately and in the classroom at all ability levels from remedial to advanced studies at the middle school, high school, college and adult level. I've also created an SAT Prep course where students often raise their scores by 200+ points and a College Essay and Application Course popular with both students and parents to assist with the application process including essays, scholarships, the Common App, FAFSA, SSAR and recommendations.

My goal is to always do what is necessary for the student's benefit including using insights and knowledge from parents and the student's teachers when necessary.
