Hello! I would love to help you improve your English or any of your K-12 subjects! I have taught for over ten years in the classroom (ESL English as a Second Language college and adult, and Substitute Teaching K-12 public schools), and tutored many K-12 subjects; my strongest subjects are Grammar, Writing, Reading Comprehension, Spelling, etc. I homeschooled my kids for 20 years and taught everything from preschool and beginning Reading to high school Algebra, Geometry, and Biology. I have also hosted intensive ESL camps in my home for up to three weeks, with one or two students at a time, age 13 and up. I love working with kids and adults of all ages. My youngest students tell me I am kind and funny; my older students thank me for being patient and interesting.

My own schooling began in Montessori at age 3; like Maria Montessori, I believe every child develops at her own pace and shows readiness for each new step she's ready to tackle, so the teacher's task is to recognize the student's natural gifts and readiness for new skills. I love providing experiences for children to learn, and I am delighted to see that light bulb come on over a child's head!

Very Patient and Understanding

Worked with my son with the patience of a saint. Gave great learning tips and alternative strategies to make learning fun. Understood his strengths and struggles. I would highly recommend Elizabeth and we will continue using her as a tutor.

Very patient and thorough Phonics teacher, encourages thinking about content, etc.

With remarkable experience in teaching, Miss Elizabeth gently challenges our student in many ways. Miss E. asks questions about our student's own life experiences, draws her out to respond and keeps her attention riveted by a variety of approaches. She teaches phonetics and reading, reads interesting stories, and then checks for understanding story content. Our student is also learning some basic art, which we appreciate very much. The manner of teaching has been inspirational. Overall rating: Excellent!!
