I have a Ph.D. in mathematics and am a CRLA certified math tutor with over 6 years of experience tutoring all undergraduate math courses, including but not limited to Calculus 1, 2, & 3, Differential Equations/Engineering Mathematics, Partial Differential Equations, Probability & Statistics, Linear Algebra/Matrix Theory, Discrete Mathematics, Logic, Real/Complex Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Abstract Algebra, and Topology. I also have experience tutoring mathematical programming in Python, R, and MATLAB.

As a tutor, my goal is to facilitate independent learning. During our sessions, we can go over concepts that you are struggling with, get ahead in your courses, or address whatever academic needs you may have. However, ironically, my goal is to get you to the point where you no longer need math tutoring. The most valuable academic skill you can learn as a student is how to effectively teach yourself so that you can independently excel in any future course, and this is my specialty as a tutor.

The majority of my tutoring and teaching experience has been outside of Wyzant, and I can assure you that I have a wealth of experience and success in tutoring, having accumulated over 1,000 hours of tutoring thus far. I also taught mathematics at Florida Atlantic University for many years, and my courses taught include Calculus 2, Engineering Mathematics 1 (Diff. Eq.), Matrix Theory (Linear Algebra), Introductory Statistics, Business Calculus, and College Algebra. I have a passion for learning and teaching mathematics that I hope to share with all my students.

Approved Subjects

Calculus

Calculus

I am a Ph.D. student in mathematics, and have taught calculus multiple times at Florida Atlantic University. I have also been tutoring calculus for over 6 years. Calculus is at the heart of mathematics and it is a subject that I love to teach!
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I am a doctoral candidate studying computational dynamical systems and differential equations. I have twice taught an undergraduate course in differential equations, and have tutored this subject for 6 years.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

The concepts from Discrete Mathematics form the basis for all advanced mathematics courses. As a Ph.D. Student in mathematics, I have a perfect understanding of these fundamentals. I have also tutored discrete mathematics many times and was a graduate TA for the course.
Finite Math

Finite Math

Over the years, I've amassed a large amount of knowledge in many different areas of math. Finite math is a pretty broad field that can contain elements of probability theory, set theory, matrix theory, etc. I have taught or tutored all of these classes at some point.
Linear Algebra

Linear Algebra

As a doctoral candidate in mathematics, I have over 7 years experience tutoring linear algebra, and I have taught my own Linear Algebra course at Florida Atlantic University.
Logic

Logic

The foundations of mathematics are built on logic, and as a pure mathematician I am intimately familiar with this subject. I have taught courses in Discrete Mathematics and more advanced courses that deal with the foundations and applications of mathematical logic and proofs. I have also tutored this subject countless times and have helped students learn the necessary foundations of logic to build coherent proofs, as well as more advanced topics in logic.
MATLAB

MATLAB

I’m currently studying computational dynamical systems and differential equations for my PhD, and I do all of my research in MATLAB. As of now, I have over 4 years experience programming in MATLAB and have tutored many students using this language.
Probability

Probability

As a math Ph.D., I've taken and tutored many different courses in probability, ranging from first-year statistical thinking to graduate-level, measure-theoretic probability theory. During my undergraduate/graduate training, I also received a minor in statistics with a special focus on probability theory. I have experience taking and teaching the Actuarial Exam P as well as Quantitative Finance probability interview exams.
Real Analysis

Real Analysis

As a doctoral candidate in mathematics, I have taken and tutored many courses in undergraduate- and graduate- level analysis. These courses include real and complex analysis, metric-space and general topology, functional analysis, as well as ordinary and partial differential equations. Much of my research in differential equations and dynamical systems is based on results of analysis, especially functional analysis.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I have tutored SAT math with high success for many years. As a former college instructor, I am very familiar with the test-taking habits and strategies that students are lacking from typical high school courses; these are the same skills that are required to excel on the SAT. My tutoring ensures the students learn proper mathematics, test-taking skills, and good study habits, all of which are required to do well on the SAT.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

Most of mathematics, and especially calculus, is intimately connected with the ancient theory of trigonometry. As a Ph.D. student in mathematics, I have taught and tutored many advanced math courses, all of which require a perfect understanding of trigonometry. Trigonometry was also the first course I took in high school that made me consider pursuing mathematics as a career. I find the structure of trigonometric proofs absolutely beautiful, and I love to share my passion with this subject to my students.
