I have spent more than 30 years teaching math and learning what actually helps students click. I hold a Master of Education in Special Education from the University of South Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. I carry active Florida Teaching Certificates in both Special Education K–12 and Middle Grades Mathematics 6–9. My credentials are not just on paper. They reflect 30 years of work inside real classrooms with real students.
Throughout my entire career I specialized in working with students with Specific Learning Disabilities and similar diagnoses, from second grade through high school. I taught middle grades math through Algebra 2 in classroom settings, led the mathematics department at Pace Brantley Preparatory School for nearly two decades, and served as principal overseeing schoolwide math instruction. I also delivered one-on-one and online math tutoring for middle and high school students throughout my career. I am trained in Mediated Learning Experience, a research-based method that focuses on teaching students how to think through problems, not just memorize steps.
The heart of my career has always been students who learn differently. I bring a depth of knowledge about different learning profiles that goes far beyond what most tutors offer. I now work one-on-one with middle and high school students, whether they are struggling in a traditional classroom setting, need extra support to keep up, or have never found an approach that works for them. I do not just reteach what did not stick the first time. I figure out how your child learns, build from there, and make math make sense for them specifically.
