Hello!
I hold a Ph.D. in Physics with a concentration in Physics Education Research, which allows me to bring a unique, scientific perspective to our sessions. With over seven years of experience in the classroom and in one-on-one settings, I have served as a professor for both introductory calculus-based and algebra-based physics sequences at major research universities and community colleges. I am comfortable working with students of all ages, though I specialize in high school AP Physics and university-level mechanics and electromagnetism, commonly known as Physics I and Physics II.
My approach to helping you learn is focused on real understanding, not just rote memorization. Drawing on my physics education research experience, I move away from "plug and chug" methods and instead help you make sense of formulas by connecting them to physical meaning and everyday experiences. Because of my specialized training, I am able to quickly spot common misconceptions and adapt my explanations to your specific learning style. My goal is to help you move from feeling "overwhelmed" to becoming a strategic, confident learner by building the metacognitive skills necessary to check your own understanding while solving problems.
Every session we have will be structured, supportive, and highly interactive. Whether you are preparing for a high-stakes exam, struggling with a difficult homework set, or simply trying to rebuild your academic confidence, I will tailor my approach to your individual goals. We will work through concepts together, practice breaking down multi-step problems, and analyze mistakes as a productive tool for growth. I am passionate about translating complex technical information into digestible narratives that make physics accessible and even enjoyable.
I look forward to helping you feel more in control of your coursework!
