I am a current high school teacher with more than 10 years of experience teaching at that level. I receive my B.S. at Penn State in Computer Science, and worked on a master's degree at UC San Diego in Engineering. I started teaching after working as a software engineer in the defense industry for several years.
I have taught computer science, chemistry, physics, and a variety of high school math classes. Since I used to be software engineer in industry, I can handle computer science problems at high school or college level in a variety of languages: C++, C#, Python, and Java. I teach AP Computer Science A and have a very high pass rate with approximately half of my students getting 5's on the exam. I have also taught all levels of high school physics including AP Physics.
I believe that students should understand the "why" of what they are doing as well as the how. I want my students to be able to get to the point where they can continue to grow without the help of a tutor. Teaching in a high school I have learned that each student needs an individualized approach to unlock a subject for them. I enjoy all of my students - those who struggle as well as those who are trying to go beyond the material being taught.
