* I have been a pianist since age five and have decades of experience as a musician, songwriter, producer, audio engineer, and teacher. I have 10 albums and have taught students individually, in studios, and at the college level.
* My lessons are practical and customized to the student. Rather than following the same program with everyone, we start with what you want to accomplish.
MUSIC PRODUCTION & PRO TOOLS
* If you're new to recording, struggling with Pro Tools, setting up a home studio, or trying to improve your productions, I'll work with you directly on your own system and projects.
* We can cover recording, MIDI, virtual instruments, editing, arranging, mixing, plug-ins, audio interfaces, signal flow, and troubleshooting.
SONGWRITING
* Have a melody, chord progression, lyrics, or even just the beginning of an idea? We can develop it together.
* I teach songwriting as a practical creative process, including melody, harmony, chord progressions, song structure, arranging, lyrics, and production.
PIANO & KEYBOARDS
* I teach beginning and intermediate piano and keyboard, combining traditional skills with practical music theory, chords, improvisation, and creativity.
* Students who are interested can also learn how to use the piano as a tool for songwriting, arranging, MIDI, synthesizers, and music production.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF MUSIC LESSON
* You may want to play your favorite songs on piano, understand chords, write your first song, learn Pro Tools, troubleshoot your studio, improve a mix, or finish music you've already started. We'll build the lessons around that goal.
* If you're not sure whether I'm the right instructor for what you want to accomplish, send me a message describing your project or goal. I'll be happy to tell you how I can help.

Approved Subjects

Music Production

Music Production

I have been in music production and songwriting for several decades specializing in Pro Tools, using piano (and synthesizers) as my primary creative tool. I teach (and troubleshoot) music production and Pro Tools to individual musicians, school districts, universities, and private studios. I have done the music production with Protools on nine of my own albums, as well as many clients using most of the latest Pro Tools plugins.
Piano

Piano

I combine traditional piano methodology using the John Thompson series with practical music theory. Where I differentiate myself from other instructors, is my teaching the piano student how to improvise to create their own songs (I have produced 9 of my own albums). I also teach at the college level and consult on music production and songwriting, utilizing piano, synthesizers, and Pro Tools. I began classical piano training at 5 years old and continued through college. I provide piano lessons for the beginner and intermediate piano, keyboard, and synthesizer students. I spent much of my career in computer science following graduate school, but retired 10 years ago in order to spend more time with my first passion and helping others.
Songwriting

Songwriting

In addition to assisting other musicians for years, I have published seven albums and am completing my eighth. I have written for many different genres. Currently teach composition part-time at the college level. I have written commercial music, training videos, and many collaborations. I can combine lessons with skills in Music Production, for which I'm also qualified.

Great Pro Tools session

Yeah for Dave! We worked for over an hour to figure out why my interface was not allowing me to record on ProTools. Dave was terrific and we finally figured it out allowing me to get my Pro Tools Studio version to function properly.

Great tutor on ProTools

Hands-on training of ProTools, great examples and easier to comprehend. We walked through the dashboard, created some recordings to practice and Dave reviewed with me some professional recordings he has been doing.
