I'm Will, and have been for years! I wanted to teach History since before entering high school, and went on to study intensively in college and ever since. History to me is the ultimate epic adventure, and teaching it is the most challenging and rewarding type of performance I've ever experienced. I've been a classroom teacher for more than 20 years, and like many I've learned to deliver insight from online. In private school and currently in a homeschool academy I have specialized in quite small classes, offering tutoring and extra help to many students.

Along the way I discovered a passion for writing and now have several fantasy novels published online as paperbacks, e-books and audiobooks. I have taught high school creative writing skills to student writers for five years, and given library talks to all audiences in person and online for nearly ten years.

I've been impressed by various aspects of essay and creative writing, the many different ways words must be used to be effective depending on the assignment. I see the crossover to both research papers (often the heart of a History course) as well as into the more creative paths of short story and novel writing (from which I have drawn such great personal enjoyment). The art and science of sending the right message fascinates me, and I also love to see how the written word translates to speaking in many assignments.

No matter how long ago people lived, I feel the sameness of the human experience to me is most exciting. You need to understand their context, begin to walk in their shoes and suddenly you see-- they were just like us, they had choices to make. Of course, at the great turning points in History the stakes were far higher than they are for us most days! But I think the student can safely and confidently apply their instincts and still-forming opinions, by imagining what they would have done over there, or back then, as someone completely different from them, but still a fellow human being. To meet the strange, but to find no strangers, t

World History

I've loved teaching History for more than 20 years now, mainly to high school and advanced high school students in all the major survey areas. This year I'm presenting American History, and next year I will return to Ancient-Medieval World History which is my best jam. Modern World was last year, and I have good understanding of major developments across all regions and civilizations.
