Hi! My name is Dallas. I graduated with a Master’s Degree from the University of Delaware in 2025 and a Bachelor’s Degree from Colburn Conservatory in 2023. I have 7 years of experience tutoring students in academic writing, creative nonfiction, reading comprehension, and music theory, and I have 11 years of experience teaching violin to students ranging in age from 6 to 87. Teaching is one of my greatest joys–I love helping people grow in understanding, maximize the efficiency of their studying and writing, and bring their creative ideas to life.

I maintained a GPA of 3.93 in my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, earning A’s in all of my English and history classes. I received perfect scores on the ACT Reading and English sections, an 800 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, and 5’s on the AP English Language & Composition, AP English Literature & Composition, AP US History, and AP Psychology exams. I was also a Johns Hopkins SET scholar. I am now a published writer, with my work appearing in literary magazines and in Colburn Conservatory concert programs.

I offer proofreading, editing, & revision help for existing drafts of writing (incl. academic papers; application essays; works of fiction; biographies, resumes, and CVs; concert program notes; and music theory assignments). I also offer consulting on study skills and on the early stages of writing–I can help you or your student brainstorm ideas, read sources efficiently and use them effectively, develop outlines, and write abstracts. Having spent much of my life with undiagnosed ADHD, I have years of experience struggling with conventional study methods and developing unique methods of my own, and I can draw on this experience to help students with learning differences through their own versions of this process.

Accessibility is a priority for me. I believe that everyone deserves access to high-quality education. If you have any budget concerns, please let me know–I will always do as much as I am able to accommodate you.

General Music

General Music

I have a Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the University of Delaware and the Colburn Conservatory. I was part of UD's Graduate String Quartet in Residence from 2023-25 and Aspen Music Festival's Center for Orchestral Leadership in 2022. I have taught violin privately (individually and in group classes) since I was 14 years old, as well as through Colburn's Jumpstart Program and UD's Community School of Music, and I have coached several middle and high school ensembles.
Sight Singing

Sight Singing

As a student in Master's of Music and Bachelor's of Music programs, I was required to take 7 semesters of Ear Training/Solfege classes, all of which were evaluated based on two skills: sight singing and transcription. I passed all of my Ear Training/Solfege classes with A's and B's--I struggled in them at first, which gave me lots of experience developing unique methods for improving in skills such as committing solfege syllables to memory, sight reading, and vocal techniques.
