Greetings students, my name is Zuwena and I have a passion for teaching math. I graduated from Wilmington University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Math has always been my favorite subject when I was in school. In middle school, I began taking honors math classes which led to my pursuit of a math focused major in college. My goal is to help students overcome any learning obstacles when it comes to math classes. I like tutoring because I enjoy sharing my knowledge with students and encouraging them to succeed. I aim to make tutoring interactive and engaging for my students because of the difficult reputation that math has. As an example of my education style, the lesson plan displays example problem sets in a fun and creative way. Then I give the students the chance to work on a practice problem on their own.
Outside of my educational pursuits, I have a year of tutoring experience in middle school math. I volunteered to directly work with students in an afterschool program. Within this program, students were tutored 3 days of the week as a means to refresh them via lesson modules based on their current grade. I tutored in subjects such as Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Throughout the experience, I have been attentive to student learning styles. I also assisted with homework help and 1 on 1 interactions. I'm open to any resources or suggestions from the students and parents can provide to facilitate learning.
