I was National Student Speaker of the Year and a Copeland Award winner (US #1 overall) representing the University of Kansas prior to serving as debate coach at UNC-Chapel Hill. Notable victories include Harvard, Northwestern, Emory, Kentucky, and the National Invitational Debate Tournament.

My coaching is focused on public speaking and debate for students at all levels of experience in Public Forum, LD, Policy, Student Congress, Big Questions, Extemporaneous, & Oratory.

I returned to coaching interscholastic speech & debate following my sports marketing career, having raised $77 million for sponsors and charities including Chick-fil-A, The Coca-Cola Company, PGA TOUR, LPGA, and others. A solid speech & debate foundation served me well in making complex sales presentations, addressing C-level executive audiences, and presenting to boards of directors for over 30 years.

My recent (2023-present) high school coaching experience has produced district and state champions in substantially all speech and debate formats, with deep elimination round runs at NSDA Nationals, where I have also served as a final round judge.

I will lead the new PF offering at Wake Forest University during their 2026 RKS Summer Debate Workshop in Winston-Salem. My own Five Star Speech & Debate Workshop for middle school students will recur in Charlotte, NC, next summer.
