At the middle school/high school level, I tutor students in core curricula as well as standardized testing (SSAT, ISEE, SAT, SAT 2, ACT).
I enjoy guiding students through all aspects of the college application process: application organization, brainstorming and editing personal essays, portfolio preparation, resume review, mock interviews, etc. I work closely with students to develop Common App and supplemental college essays that present their most outstanding traits to college admission boards. At the post-secondary level, I help students improve thesis writing, research practices, project proposals, and essay editing for graduate school admission and competitive fellowships (ie Fulbright).
I am a Spanish-speaker, studied academic Spanish at universities in Cuba and Argentina, and have spent extensive time in Latin America. I customize my lessons to meet the learning needs and language acquisition goals of each student. Students may improve their Spanish language skills in grammar, reading, writing, and oral understanding. I also teach conversational/colloquial Spanish as well as assist with accent reduction. Additionally, I have been hired to do specialized translation work (i.e., medical translation during surgical procedures) and can help you build a Spanish lexicon specific to your field.
