Helen is a gem!
As a college student passionate about foreign languages, I've seen more than my share of professors and tutors. Many people who teach foreign languages, especially native speakers, are better at speaking their language than teaching it. Not so with Helen - she brings a warmth and sense of humor to the experience that really let's students explore and enjoy the language. So much of my time with Helen is spent laughing that I can hardly believe how much I retain, but the results are there. Her customizable lesson plans let me move at my own pace (I don't feel babied or patronized, only supported) and her knowledge of Chinese goes beyond native familiarity - She obviously has a real appreciation of the language and of its potential for enriching her students' lives in learning such an ancient, elegant way of communicating. I couldn't be happier that I began taking Chinese lessons with Helen. She's rekindled my love of the language and no matter how many times I butcher the 'r' sound, she always has a smile on her face!

Wonderful tutor
My daughter entered a Chinese immersion program late and we wanted to get her some support to be as successful as possible. Enter Helen! :-) Helen has been wonderful with my daughter. She went out of her way to make her feel comfortable beginning with the consultation. During the first session, she was prompt and had activities ready for my daughter to complete. I am quite satisfied with the support she has shown my her thus far and I'm excited to see my child's progression throughout the tutoring process!

Excellent Teacher
I am so glad we found Helen through WyzAnt, she is the perfect tutor. She is very friendly but serious about teaching. When you pay someone by the hour you want to get the most for your money. We are definitely getting our money's worth. My daughter has learned so much in only 3 lessons. Helen is so enthusiastic and it really motivates my daughter. Whenever she comes back from a session she says, "I just love Helen!" I would recommend Helen to anyone who is interested in learning Chinese. She is awesome!

Enthusiastic and engaging
Both of our sons, ages 13 and 10, are taking Chinese lessons with Helen and are enjoying it very much. She brings a lot of energy and keeps them interested and engaged. We are very happy with her approach and it is a great experience for them.
