Hello, my name is Liz. I have been teaching Anatomy and Physiology in postsecondary adult education for 14 years. I have a background in nursing, medical terminology and health. I have also taught classes in the cadaver lab at UNLV. Understanding the body and how it functions can be challenging however, with detailed explanations and breakdown of terminology, you can successfully learn and mastering this material.

Learning Anatomy and Physiology can be very challenging! After a student learns medical terminology, which feels like a whole new language, they move into Anatomy and Physiology. The course material becomes more difficult for students and many need additional help. If attending a larger sized class, students do not have the option of having all their questions answered due to time restraints. Professors must cover material on structure and function of systems, as well as pathologies, staying on course and may not have extra time to work individually with students. I found that learning styles vary and tutoring can also address this. Anatomy and Physiology subject matter can be broken down and simplified for a student to gain a better understanding of how systems function. Due to the difficulty of the subject matter, I think tutoring is very beneficial if you truly want to understand the material and feel confident in passing the course.

I have been tutoring in this subject for the past 5 years. Certifications that I hold include Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy Certification, and CPR/First Aide. I also am a Licensed Massage Therapy of 18 years. My experience related to Anatomy and Physiology is from attending the Nursing Program at Salt Lake Community College and teaching Anatomy and Physiology (Gross Anatomy) for 9 years which includes teaching in the Cadaver Lab at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
