I am a Washington, D.C. native, and I am passionate about education, foreign languages, and nutrition. After graduating with a degree in Arabic Language, I taught High School English in rural Indonesia for two years. I am fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and Indonesian. When I returned to the U.S., I taught for one year at a D.C. Public Elementary School near Congress Heights metro station. Through all my teaching experience, I have enjoyed providing engaging lessons that allow young learners to use their new skills as soon as possible. I have experience tutoring adults in English, Arabic, and Indonesian. I am trained and certified as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).

As a math tutor serving at a DC public school located in a low income neighborhood, I planned and led daily small group lessons in math skills. I am familiar with the requirements of Common Core standards, and I have extensive lesson plans to draw from for teaching all math skills up to the fifth grade. I succeeded in raising my students' test scores by one full grade level after just one semester of tutoring.

I have tutored Arabic for many years. I began studying the language in high school, and I eventually earned my degree in Arabic from the University of Virginia. I have lived abroad in an Arabic speaking country. I was rated as 'Advanced' in Arabic speaking and reading skills in a State Department assessment. I am passionate about the language, and eager to help novice and intermediate students improve their conversation skills, vocabulary range, grammar, and confidence in the language.

Skilled & Patient

Matt is by far the kids favorite Arabic teacher. Besides that he makes classes fun and continues to motivate them, he is great at explaining the Arabic language to English speakers. Watching the kids read and write within a couple of weeks is heart warming. He is able to expose them to the Arab culture by music, videos, and learning the middle east geography. I can't be grateful enough for all of his efforts and passion for teaching Arabic.
