Hello,

I am a graduate student studying for a PhD in history at Howard University with experience in history, public speaking, math, and writing. With regard to public speaking, I have assisted a broad range of students and professionals, including scientists and physicians at Stanford University. One unique aspect of my approach has been conducting video evaluations. Additionally, I have been an active member of the public speaking and leadership organization Toastmasters International for over 4 years. I recently achieved Distinguished Toastmaster designation, which is the highest award in the organization. While in Toastmasters, I have had the opportunity to be a Division Director, which involved coaching many different types of public speaking clubs. Finally, in terms of writing, between grad and undergrad, I have written over 100 papers on an array of topics. I was honored to have my paper on Japanese internment included in the archives of the World War II Japanese American Internment Museum in McGehee, Arkansas.

My tutoring style focuses on unique concepts, ideas, and facts that resonate with the client. If it resonates, a person is more likely to remember. For example, I recently created a multi-session sequence to teach American history through song. Therefore, I emphasize trying to present information in a way that is both customized and applicable.

Feel free to contact me if you are curious about how we might work together. There is no need to be shy!

Approved Subjects

American History

American History

Prior to current work on a doctorate, both the bachelor's and masters' degrees were in American History. In other words, I have studied this exact subject for over 9 consecutive years. Outside of being a student, I have provided over 100 hours of American history tutoring to clients on Wyzant.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Having been a Toastmaster for 8 years now, I have presented over 200 speeches (ex. workshops, educational sessions, motivational talks) to crowds of varying sizes (less than 5 to well over 200) across the globe. This Toastmasters experience granted me the opportunity to work with the Stanford School of Medicine where I provide public speaking coaching to faculty. As of 2023, I have been a coach for 6 years.
World History

World History

I was a history major at Case Western Reserve University with a 3.7 major GPA. Due to my college classes, I have some experience teaching history at the college level to my collegiate peers. Additionally, I have written over 100 history papers on subjects varying from Byzantium to Modern Mexico, to twentieth century America. In grad school, the ability to teach students as well as write history in a clear manner has been greatly increased due to the rigor of my courses.
Writing

Writing

Between undergraduate and graduate, I have written over 100 papers on topics mostly related to history. These papers vary from a meager page to 30 pages. One of the papers I wrote is even archived in a museum in Arkansas. Additionally, I had the chance to co-write a leadership article in the Noyce Leadership Institute newsletter, which has hundreds of readers around the world. Finally, I have written reports on the public speaking skills of clients with national and even international renown.
