I’m a Yale University graduate with a B.A. in Political Science and more than a decade of tutoring experience. I currently work full-time as a paralegal at a nonprofit and volunteer weekly as a GED tutor at the DC Jail. I come from a family of educators and have been tutoring since middle school, working with students from elementary school through high school and, more recently, adult learners. I am also recently returning to tutoring after a few years of focusing on my own degree.

I tutor English, writing and reading comprehension, biology, math through pre-calculus, and standardized test preparation. My approach focuses on helping students genuinely understand the material rather than simply memorize it. I adapt my teaching style to each student, breaking down difficult concepts and helping students build the skills and confidence to work independently.
Over the years, I’ve worked with approximately ten students for a year or longer, in addition to shorter-term tutoring relationships. I’ve helped students move from the C range to A/B-level work and helped already strong students become more confident and consistent A-level students.
I have extensive experience tutoring both math and English. My own math background includes AP Calculus BC and Multivariable Calculus. In English, I’ve tutored reading comprehension, grammar, analytical writing, and test prep. One longtime student was a 17-year-old international student who spoke limited English when we began and, after a year, was able to read and discuss The Great Gatsby. I also earned a 36 on both the English and Reading sections of the ACT.
Whether a student is struggling in a subject, preparing for an exam, or looking to strengthen their academic skills, I aim to provide tutoring that is patient, engaging, rigorous, and tailored to the individual. I’d love to hear from you and see whether we’d be a good fit.
