Hi, my name is Katy and I studied Arabic Language and Literature at the University of Texas at Austin, where I also worked as a Teaching Assistant for First-Year Arabic from 2009-2010. I also have thoroughly experience teaching Arabic to high-school students. In total, I have over six years of classroom Arabic under my belt, so I know what you are going through!
I am also an alumna of the Arabic Flagship Program (National Security Education Program). Through the Arabic Flagship Program I studied in Damascus, Syria, for a year where I took intensive graduate-level courses, including formal instruction on Syrian Arabic.
In addition to Levantine Arabic, I am also familiar with Egyptian dialect to a lesser degree. In the summer of 2009 I studied on a government scholarship in Alexandria, Egypt and have taken college courses on Egyptian dialect.
I am a very flexible tutor proposing affordable and adapted lessons, tailor fit to meet the needs of the student. Before our sessions, I want to understand your professional or personal goals as well as your current level in Arabic. I am familiar with such textbooks as alif ba' and al-kitaab (all levels). No matter your level in Arabic, I want to work with you!
