Hello families and students! I'm Anthony "Mr." R., the Lead Math Instructor for 8th Grade at Brookland Middle School in Washington, D.C. Between my teaching and private tutoring, I have proudly served nearly 200 middle and high school students in D.C. and my hometown of New York City. I have experience teaching in one-on-ones, virtual meetings, and traditional classroom settings. I specialize in standardized test preparation and have successfully prepared 15 students in for the SAT, high school AP exams, and core content unit tests. I have taught a wide array of subjects, including Algebra, Geometry, Arithmetic, Statistics, US and World History, ELA, Spanish, and college counseling.
My credentials include a DC teaching certificate, a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University, 8+ years of private academic tutoring, and 1+ years of teaching in the DC public school system. I utilize the gradual release strategy, which focuses on giving students more independence in the learning process with designated safety nets implemented intentionally. I scaffold my lessons and offer differentiation to ensure that students at any grade-level can access even very difficult content.
