Hello, I'm Miss Mia! I'm a special education teacher and tutor with a strong passion for supporting children and adults with and without Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs). I currently teach special education at a DC Public Schools high school and hold a Master's degree in International Education from George Washington University, where I also worked in an academic and career center supporting diverse learners. Prior to living in DC, I taught elementary English in South Korea and worked as a kindergarten teacher and paraprofessional in South Florida. My passion for empowering neurodivergent individuals began early, and by high school I was already working as an in-home respite care provider for autistic children.
I have earned Highly Effective teaching ratings in Florida and South Korea and have consistently maintained an Effective rating with DCPS. I specialize in tutoring Pre-K through 8th grade across core subjects, with additional support for high school humanities (grades 9-12). My teaching approach is strengths based, patient, and highly individualized, using structure, visual supports, and fun, engaging strategies to build confidence and promote growth. I offer an introductory consultation and clearly communicate scheduling and cancellation policies prior to beginning lessons. I would love to connect and support your learning goals, please feel free to reach out to schedule a session or learn more!
