Hi, I'm Sara! I have a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in both Chemical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. During my bachelors and PhD Studies, I served as a teaching assistant in a variety of engineering classes from the freshman to graduate student level. I also mentored high school students as they took on unique science projects, and helped them understand the underlying subject matter related to their work. Since graduating, I have worked primarily with professionals with policy backgrounds, so I understand the nuances of tailoring material to individual learners.
I believe teaching and tutoring should be tailored to the individual student, and I strive to meet learners where they are at. I focus on building fundamental understanding of concepts, so that students can build confidence and use their own creativity to apply these concepts to new problems.
I have most experience tutoring chemical engineering and chemistry concepts, but can also support with broader science and math work, including physics and calculus, as well as with test preparation.
