I am a middle school math inclusion/SPED teacher at Capital City Public Charter School in Washington, D.C., where I support 7th and 8th grade students with a wide range of learning needs. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Howard University, where I graduated with a 3.93 GPA. My academic background and teaching experience allow me to tutor across a broad range of subjects, including math (grades 6–12, including honors and intervention courses), middle school science, and high school biology and chemistry, including honors-level coursework. I have extensive experience implementing IEPs and 504 Plans, modifying curriculum materials, and using data to guide instruction.
In my current role and previous position as a STEM teacher and mentor at Fusion Academy, I have worked with both middle and high school students in one-on-one and small group settings. At Fusion, I provided fully individualized instruction across multiple STEM subjects, adapting lessons for students with learning disabilities, ADHD, and anxiety. I also incorporated executive functioning strategies into my teaching, helping students build skills in organization, time management, and study habits. In addition, I have experience supporting students in ACT preparation, focusing on both content review and test-taking strategies.
Across all of my work, I focus on creating a structured, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking academic risks. I use a data-driven and student-centered approach to tailor instruction, ensuring that students not only improve academically but also build confidence and independence. My experience working with diverse student populations has shaped my trauma-informed and culturally responsive teaching style, which I bring into every tutoring session.
