Hi! I'm Abriana! I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (K–6) and am currently completing a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at UVA, where I am also earning my ESL endorsement. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in child development, instructional design, and evidence-based teaching practices, with a focus on supporting diverse learners and English Language Learners.

I have 8 years of teaching experience, mostly as a classroom teacher in a Title I school setting. I have taught 3rd grade in the classroom and have additional experience working with students in grades K–8 through one-on-one tutoring, small group instruction, and both in-person and online tutoring environments. I love supporting students with a wide range of learning needs, helping them strengthen foundational skills, build confidence, and make meaningful academic progress. I especially enjoy teaching elementary math and helping students develop problem-solving strategies. I am also passionate about supporting students in developing effective study skills all the way from elementary through high school.

My instructional approach is centered on scaffolding, confidence-building, and strong relationships. I believe students learn best when they feel supported and capable, so I intentionally break down concepts into manageable steps while using data to guide my teaching. I strive to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and celebrating their progress. My goal is always to help students not only improve academically, but also gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed on their own.
