I started tutoring French to students in lower grades when I was in high school at 17 years of age. It was the first afterschool program in my high school. I provided homework assistance and performed other tasks as instructed by my two French teachers.
I discovered my passion for teaching then. I have since taught in various capacities in the field of Telecommunications and Electronics and related subjects. Notably, for over 7 years, I worked in the non-profit sector with youth in the areas of Computer Technology, GED, Financial Literacy and Homework Assistance. This was done in a classroom setting as well as one-on-one depending on the schedule.
Additionally, our programs ran throughout the year and included Summer Youth Programs. As part of continuing education, I completed various courses in 'Advancing Youth Development' where I learned to assist youth to navigate and use resources, identify their own strengths, define and achieve their goals.
My teaching/tutoring population spans 7 to 18 years for high schoolers and, adults for industry-recognized certifications. To sum it up, I think what makes me a great tutor is that I am passionate about teaching, I am patient with students, and I will always go the extra mile to ensure that the student has understood the subject matter since what brings me the most satisfaction is when they 'get it'.
