Candace is a 19-year educator who has served as a K-12 substitute teacher, STEM Coordinator, and curriculum facilitator in North Carolina, the District of Columbia, and Virginia charter and public schools. Throughout her years in education, she supported and improved student academic growth and proficiency by providing her students with a variety of learning experiences, both within and outside the classroom. She achieved success in supporting her students through creative cross-curricular lessons and activities, building partnerships with local organizations and universities, and managing a non-profit school-affiliated organization for the youth within the school community she served.
Candace has also served as an assistant science scholars program director at the University of Maryland, at the post-secondary level, as a faculty member in an early/middle college program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she taught high school honors courses in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, and Biotechnology.
