Hi there! I'm Camila. I recently graduated with distinction from McGill University, where I double majored in Philosophy and Sociology. I have always loved languages, reading, and teaching others. While at McGill, I was VP of my school's branch of Journalists for Human Rights as well as a member of the McGill International Review. Furthermore, I scored perfect scores on both the reading and English portions of the ACT.
Over the past five years, I've worked primarily with middle and high school students on ESL, essay writing, college applications, reading comprehension, and ACT prep. My students have seen demonstrable improvements in their writing, such as developing clearer argumentation, improving the structure of their essays, stronger grammar, and gaining a more confident voice. I tailor each lesson plan to the individual student's unique strengths and needs, as I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. As a recent student myself, I understand the ways teachers can often overcomplicate things; therefore, my goal is always to make learning engaging, collaborative, fun, and accessible so that students are able to succeed academically and build lasting confidence in their abilities.
