I’m a PhD-trained educator and formally educated writing tutor with over 20 years of experience teaching and mentoring students in writing, research, social sciences, and the arts. I hold a PhD in Arts Practice from the University of Limerick, Ireland, where I worked for six years as a writing and research tutor in the Writing Center and Disability Support Services. Before that, I taught at the University of Maryland as a professor of dance, research/writing and history/theory, where I also served as a thesis advisor and Fulbright mentor. Under my guidance, many of my students have gotten into grad school, won Fulbright Fellowships, received major grants, and published articles—including with Oxford University Press.

I’ve also taught at UCLA, Wesleyan, and Towson universities, and published in academic and creative writing texts. I bring deep experience working with international students, multilingual learners, and neurodivergent thinkers, including those with ADHD and dyslexia. I’ve completed training with Dyslexia Ireland to better support students with language-based learning differences.

My approach is inclusive and inquiry-based. I help students discover their voice, organize their thinking, and write with clarity and purpose. I believe that everything a writer needs is already inside them—they just need the right support to bring it forward. One tutee shared: “I was so close to giving up on my application, but your encouragement made all the difference.” Another wrote, “You’ve taught me more about academic writing than I ever learned in school.” Whether you're applying to college, developing a graduate thesis, revising a paper, or applying for a grant, I’ll meet you where you are and support your process with care, structure, and inspiration. I look forward to helping you write with confidence and depth. Please feel free to contact me with questions or to schedule a lesson—I’d be honored to support your writing journey.

ADHD

ADHD

Formally trained as a writing tutor at the University of Limerick, I spent five years tutoring in the Writing Center and Disability Support Services, alongside 20 years of college-level teaching supporting many students with ADHD. As someone with ADHD myself, I deeply understand the challenges writers face—focus, overwhelm, and organization—and know firsthand how to move through them. I offer structured, encouraging, and flexible support, with tried-and-true strategies that help turn ADHD into a strength.

I offer structured, encouraging, and flexible guidance to help you succeed in your research and writing.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I hold a PhD and am a former professor with over two decades of experience mentoring students, artists, and professionals on writing personal statements, grant proposals, and job applications. For nine years, I worked with the National Scholarships Office at the University of Maryland, serving as a Fulbright mentor and guided applicants through highly competitive personal essays and project statements. I have also written successful statements myself for jobs, grants, and artistic projects, giving me firsthand insight into what makes applications stand out. My approach combines clear structure with authentic voice, helping you craft compelling statements that reflect both your strengths and your story.
Thesis Writing

Thesis Writing

I hold a PhD and am a former professor with extensive experience guiding undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students through every stage of the thesis and dissertation process. I have taught research design, writing, and arts practice at major universities, including the University of Maryland, Towson University, the University of Limerick, and Mills College (now Northeastern). I specialize in helping students transform complex ideas into clear, compelling arguments. My own doctoral research combined social science scholarship with creative practice, giving me a unique perspective on both traditional and innovative approaches to thesis writing. I love mentoring students through this journey—supporting them as they move from overwhelm to clarity, and from draft to finished work they can be proud of.PhD & Professor | Expert in Thesis, Dissertation & Academic Writing
