In 6th grade, I took on the challenge of being a neighborhood peer tutor and found my life calling. Every summer, I return to the poorest areas of D.C. to director a state of the art reading intervention program for high school students. During the school year, I guide prep school students to rise to higher standards in several academic areas including English, History, and Journalism. As a college application advisor, I assist students with telling their personal stories on college applications.
As a reading interventionist, I am adept at with utilizing multiple reading therapies including Wilson and LMB. Students enjoy my diverse approach to tackling their reading challenges. My success includes improving word identification, spelling and writing scores by 2-5 grade levels in just 6 weeks of summer studies (5 days a week for 3 hours each day). As a person, I am known as a kewl nerd by my students. I believe that students should laugh during the learning process. They should be both learners and teachers during our sessions. In essence, I can see the genius in all of my students
