Law

Law

I am a law professor at the largest university in Washington, DC, teaching both undergraduates and law students. I teach or have taught Constitutional Law, Communications Law, and Legal Research and Writing, among other courses. I also have helped many of my undergrads with their law school applications.
Legal Writing

Legal Writing

I am a law professor at George Washington University. I have taught legal research and writing for the past ten years. My primary emphasis is on writing: I can help you with the structure, analysis, and content of a legal memo, an appellate brief, a law review note, and other legal writing assignments.
Personal Statements

Personal Statements

I am a law professor at George Washington University. I do admissions work for the Law School so I know what a law school admissions committee is looking for in a personal statement. I am also the pre-law advisor for the undergraduate Honors Program so I've spent many years helping undergraduates write their law school personal statements.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I've been on stage since I was six years old. I started as a child actor, then went on to college and law school, and have been either in a classroom (as a professor) or a courtroom (as a lawyer) for the past 25+ years.

Excellent Support with Law School Applications

Jill was incredibly helpful in reviewing my law school personal statement and résumé. She provided detailed, thoughtful feedback that strengthened both the content and structure of my materials. She was patient, encouraging, and really took the time to make sure I felt confident in my writing. I would highly recommend Jill to anyone looking for guidance with writing or application materials

Knowledgeable and Patient tutor

I appreciate and benefit a lot from what she brings to class. She is knowledgeable, patient and her approach is practical. Jill helped me realize things that I never realized existed; things I should implement as a student, things that will help me enormously as I approach legal writing projects such as case briefings. Thank you, Jill!

The very best

Professor Jill is the best one could hope for. Applying to law school as a career transition, I came looking for help with my personal statements. Jill is a very skilled, tough, and honest editor, and has been committed to helping me to represent myself as best I can in my applications. Her critique is quite sharp and has been enormously helpful in understanding what it is law schools are looking for in prospective students. Jill is the best resource any applicant could have!

A true academic and a skilled educator.

Professor Jill is an exceptional educator. She is extremely knowledgeable and, unlike many law professors, she understands and applies effective teaching strategies. She has the patience to break down complex legal concepts into manageable, digestible parts. As a 22-year veteran in the field of education, I’ve observed a common flaw in higher education: colleges and universities often prioritize academic credentials over teaching ability. They frequently hire individuals with impressive degrees but little understanding of how to accommodate diverse learning styles or support students with disabilities. Professor Jill stands out as both a true academic and a skilled educator. She not only possesses deep legal knowledge but also knows how to communicate it effectively. Thanks to her guidance, my legal writing skills have significantly improved.

Takes time to understand you and the issue.

Jill is absolutely great. She does not rush and yet is very to the point. She takes the time to identify the specifics of why you have come to her, and then she drills down to understand you. This gives her the best opportunity to help you in a way that you can understand and will be the most beneficial.

Awesome tutor!

I really enjoyed talking with Prof. Jill. She is very knowledgeable, down to earth, wise, perceptive, personable, and an experienced educator. Prof. Jill assigned me a task of briefing a case, where I was given feedback and criticism, in a very expedient process. She gave me additional tips and suggestions for improving my writing skills. Prof. Jill is an absolute pleasure as an instructor, as I look forward for more future lessons. I wholeheartedly recommend Prof. Jill as a teacher without hesitation!

Excellent Tutor

Jill; helped me through an assignment I didn’t even know how to start. At a subsequent seeion, she proofread and helped me get it down to the word count needed. She really started teaching me to think like a lawyer….just the facts. I am looking forward to working with her again. She keeps the sessions on track and I felt the time was used wisely.
