Allow me to introduce myself! I'm Lauren W., a certified teacher in four languages (French, Spanish, Italian and Latin). I studied these languages throughout high school and college, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in French Language & Culture with a minor in the Classics. I also earned a Master's degree in Secondary Education. I taught for 20 years in a high school, taking my students on trips out of the country when possible to experience the language and culture authentically. What fun those trips were! My students came away with a passion for learning more.

When I myself was a high school student, I had great teachers who recognized my love for language and who encouraged me to explore this interest in-depth. In college I spent two semesters abroad in France as an exchange student, and later set up similar exchange programs in the high school where I taught. Now that I'm retired, I'm eager to inspire the students I tutor to embrace new languages and appreciate cultures they may be unfamiliar with.

I enjoy getting to know each student I teach and tutor. I use various tools to diagnose where the student stands in their continuum of language learning, so that I can address their needs and provide a customized teaching plan that will ensure their progress in learning the language. I make language learning fun by using an interactive approach that will have the student speaking and understanding the language in a short period of time.
